Before your child can read, they can rip. The Hedgehog 16-inch kid’s bike unlocks a whole new world to preschoolers. We paired a lightweight frame with modern geometry to a medium gear ratio, equally adept at climbing and winding it up on the way down. Nothing on this bike distracts your preschooler from learning to flow on her bike.
As kids ride further over more varied terrain, they become comfortable enough to try some tricks. This confidence translates to independence, adventure, and endless possibilities. We designed the Hedgehog with a freewheel, allowing kids much more rideability than a coaster brake. It’s a big detail, which is a game-changer for kids and features hand brakes, just like an adult bike, but small, durable, and created with little hands in mind.
The Hedgehog is light and strong at just 16 lbs. out of the box. A one year warranty also backs it against manufacturer’s defects. When your trail boss is ready to step up from a 12-inch bike, the Hedgehog 16-inch kids bike will reliably propel your 3 to 5-year-old rider* as they climb to new heights, launching jumps, drop stairs and maybe roll around standing on the top tube.

Hedgehog is best fit for riders with an inseam of 17″ to 21″. First-time riders feel safest with their bottom on the saddle and their feet flat on the ground. That’s how a child with an 18″ inseam will fit the Hedgehog with the seat post dropped as low as possible. Once kids get more comfortable on two wheels, they’ll want to sit on the saddle with the balls of their feet on the ground. Thus, a confident rider with a 17″ inseam and a first-time rider with a 19″ inseam will each ride with about the same seat height.

The Hedgehog comes with a flip-flop hub, or double-sided hub that is threaded on both sides. This allows you to add a higher or lower gear. Kids who are not ready to shift gears yet but ride in different terrain can get a second gear that can be used by simply turning the rear tire around. We have used this option on our Kids with a higher gear for biking longer distances on paved roads to school vs a lower gear for our rides on bike parks, or mountain biking.
